An Exciting Short Break at Seasons Holidays County Hotel

Resort:

’We write to tell you of our experiences of a short break at the Seasons Holidays Bath County Hotel. We were booked in to spend a four night break from 1-5th June. The week before, I had problems with my teeth which resulted in emergency treatment and a follow-up on the Monday we were due to leave. Over the weekend, we had two of our grandsons to stay, and they wanted to make jelly - which we did. Later I proceeded to open the fridge door and knocked the aforesaid jelly flying (why does such a small amount of liquid spread so far and wide?) Then on the Sunday evening, coming back from taking the grandchildren home, the car started to misfire and chug away. By this time we were thinking someone was telling us not to go away!

My husband took the car to the garage first thing on Monday morning and they looked it over and said it was the coil and they couldn't get one until Wednesday! So, we were faced with the decision: should we not go away or take my old banger of a car? We decided to go in mine and set off finally at 4.30pm on Monday. All went well until we were about five minutes away from the hotel and a lorry had broken down on the hill at the traffic lights, so we had a further wait of 45 minutes to get round it. Never mind, at least we had arrived! The hotel staff were very welcoming and we were shown to our room. After unpacking and a welcome cup of tea, we set off for the short walk into Bath.

Next day, we set off to do the touristy bit. Whilst there, my mobile rang (no-one ever rings me), and while trying to get the phone out of my back pack, I missed the call, which was from our daughter. We were a bit concerned as she would never ring us unless it was an emergency. Anyway, we thought if it was that desperate she would ring back and continued on our way. We thoroughly enjoyed Bath and had a lovely day, even though it was boiling hot. We came back to The County at 3.30pm, had a quick meeting with Andy who told us about the Cheese and Wine Party that evening, then spent a while just sitting reading in the lounge, with a welcome breeze coming through the open windows. We attended the party, which was lovely with a superb array of cheeses and plenty of wine and enjoyable company.

On returning to our room, we thought we had better telephone our daughter to find out what was happening. Oh dear! My cousin, who was staying the week at our home, had decided to put on the dishwasher (after being told to leave it, by our daughter, as it was not full), and she somehow managed to pull the pipe off! She then panicked and ran out of the house to call a neighbour and consequently locked herself out (honestly you couldn't write this could you?) Thus, within less than 24 hours of us leaving home, the kitchen was flooded, the Fire Brigade, a plumber and an electrician had been called. Our daughter had to cancel her customers for that day and half the next as my cousin was in such a panic. She told us not to worry and to continue with our break but we just had to cut short our break and get home.

We had our meeting with Andy in the morning of Wednesday, but after explaining the situation everyone was sympathetic and agreed to go home would be the best thing - if only to put our minds at rest that my cousin was not going to destroy the rest of the house! We now have a kitchen floor that has ‘lifted’ in lots of places and are waiting to see if the insurance will pay out.

I know our stay was short and sweet, but we would like to get back to The County in the near future as it promised to be a good week. My husband especially was disappointed, as this was the first break we have taken in the summer for 23 years, as we run a B & B and it is awkward to get away. But this year we were determined and the Monday-Friday fitted in nicely without interfering with the weekends. We must say, however, that all the staff were welcoming and friendly (as usual at Seasons) and we are sure that it would have proved a great week.’
